BAGDAD, Ariz. (AP) — A wildfire in the small town of Bagdad forced the evacuations of 150 homes Thursday and authorities said crews were trying to contain the 55-acre fire by sunset.

Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials said the fire began Thursday afternoon and its cause isn’t immediately known.

Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management officials said tanker drops have helped douse some of the flames and 75 personnel on the ground were gaining the upper hand.

They say the fire should lay down after sunset.

Sheriff’s officials said a shelter was being set up at Bagdad High School for evacuees.
