The U.S. Forest Service is advertising to hire 1,100 firefighters across the country.
The move is aimed at bolstering wildland firefighter capacity as the fire season gets rolling, KDVR reports. Open positions include the following;
- Aviation officers
- Dispatchers
- Equipment operators
- Fire engine operators
- Fire management officers
- Fire planners
- Fire prevention specialists
- Forestry aids and technicians
- Handcrew members
- Helitack crew members
- Hotshot crew members
- Pilots
- Prescribed fire and fuels specialist
- Smokejumpers
The move should reopen the hiring spigot slowed by a Department of Government Efficiency hiring freeze.
