Evacuation Orders Lifted for Eastern Montana Wildfire

No structures have been lost in the wildfire

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — Evacuation orders have been lifted for homes near the Montana community of Molt that had been threatened by a wildfire.

Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation officials said in a statement Friday that residents on Buffalo Trail Road were allowed back home after being told to leave on Wednesday.

The road is closed to non-residents in the area northwest of Billings that has about 150 homes.

Fire officials say no structures have burned and the blaze did not grow over night. It has burned over 4 square miles (11 square kilometers) on private and state trust lands and was 20% contained as of Friday morning.

State and local fire crews expect cooler temperatures Friday that should allow them to continue to hold the fire in check.
